Chapter 17: Remembering kindness

17:10   ‘You have forgotten God your Saviour; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress.’

Remembering is something we do naturally every day. Perhaps, as we get older, we tend to remember more and more. There is more to remember. And then it happens that people begin not to remember as much as before.  Fear of growing old and losing our memory as well as other faculties can be present.  But, somewhere and at some level of our consciousness there remains a primitive awareness and memory of kindness, of love, of mercy and of tenderness. It may be triggered by a photograph of a loved one such as a parent or someone else in our life living or dead.  In these moments we are close to the Rock of our salvation and the refuge of infinite caring. We are safe in the arms of one who will remember us even when our memories might begin to fade.
