On 1 January I began this daily blog series – Bread for the Journey – with the intention of writing something relevant to the Eucharist and publishing it every day for the remainder of 2026. So far, I have managed – with a little effort – to publish a reflection each day. I am nearly half ways there in terms of my new year’s resolution. It took, on average, a bit more time and preparation than I had thought; it also took me down avenues that I had not quite anticipated or planned. It has been a personally rewarding experience as I explore and revisit my own personal journey with the Eucharist.
On 26 March I posted
about why I have been writing this blog (Why thisblog?). In that post I wrote:
If these reflections help even one person, somewhere, at some moment, to pause and consider the mysteries explored in Bread for theJourney, that is consolation enough. I am grateful for the chance to offer something of value. I have received much, and I simply wish to share it.
And, I am happy to continue on this
personal writing story. Much of my focus
has been on matters of doctrine and faith – reflecting my own understanding as
a lay person and not a theologian or expert.
However, I plan to reorientate a little by including two dimensions that
perhaps were not so much to the fore up to now:
- My own personal experiences and learning points on this journey
- The political and social implications of the Eucharist especially in the light of Catholic Social Teaching.
Do drop me an email or comment, if you
like, on what is posted here.
