A breath of heaven

I stared into your face, Sister Death
(My Mam and Dad were there)
You smiled back at me and said to me in that room:
“not today, Tom.” “your time has not yet come”.
Enveloped in love here on earth I lived to see a new dawn and continued gently on my way

Breath of Heaven
After three nights they kindly wheeled me to a new ward. I was well on the road of recovery.
Flat on my back I passed the dying, the confused, the tormented and those sicker than me.
And then through a slender window high above me, I caught glimpse of a blue sky with a secret force breathing on the clouds as they swept quickly across a winter sky.
It was magic as if I had seen blue, sky and clouds for the first time ever.
“In the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord” (Exodus 16:7)
But why me?
