Naoimh uile na hÉireann/All Saints or Ireland

‘…‘Is iad dála ríocht na bhflaitheas,’ ar seisean,’mar a bhí ag an duine a chuir síol  maith ina ghort.’ (Matha 13:24)

Matha 13:24-32 (Year A: Naoimh uile na hÉireann)

Lá Naoimh Uile na hEireann (6 Samhain)
All Saints of Ireland (6 November)

Cuirtear chun cuimhne dúinn ar an lá seo pobal naofa na hEireann a d’imigh romhainn. I gcomhluadar na naomh uile guímid lúireach Phádraig ar an lá seo:

We remember, on this day, the holy people of Ireland who went before us.  Among them were ordinary people who lived and died without reputation or major publicity. But they left an example and a legacy for us.  They went ‘by the way of truth’. Among them were those who died from famine, war and ill-health caused by strife. In the company of the saints we pray the Breastplate of Saint Patrick:

Críost liom,
Críost romham,
Críost i mo dhiaidh,
Críost istigh ionam,
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ within me,
Críost fúm,
Críost os mo chionn,
Críost ar mo lámh dheas,
Críost ar mo lámh chlé,
Christ below me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right hand,
Christ on my left hand,
Críost i mo lúi dom,
Críost i mo sheasamh dom,
Christ in my sleeping,
Christ in my waking,
Críost i gcrói gach duine atá ag cuimhneamh orm,
Críost i mbéal gach duine a labhráionn lom,
Críost i ngach súil a fhéachann orm,
Críost i ngach cluas a éisteann liom.
Christ in the heart of all who think of me,
Christ in the mouth of all who speak of me,
Christ in every eye that looks at me,
Christ in Every ear that listens to me.

A Dhia uilechumachtaigh a shnaidhm le  chéile do phobal tofa in aon chumann agus chomhluadar amháin i gcrop rúnda do mhic Críost ár dTiarna; deonaigh grásta dúinn chun do naoimh bheannaithe a leanúint i ndiagacht agus suáilceas beatha, chun go dtaga muid ar na sóláis úd nach féidir cur síos orthu a cheap tú don dream a thugann grá ó chroí duit; trí Íosa Críost ár dTiarna.

Almighty God, you have knit together your elect in one communion and fellowship in the mystical body of your Son Christ our Lord: Grant us grace so to follow your blessed saints
in all virtuous and godly living that we may come to those inexpressible joys that you have prepared for those who truly love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
